I don’t really like store-bought hummus. Something about the consistency seems weird. If I do buy some though, I get the organic type my grocery store produces (not a specific brand). And unlike most people, my least favorite brand is Sabra.
- 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas (cooked from dry; or canned, drained)
- 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender. Cover and blend until pureed.
That’s a very basic recipe for a plain/garlic-flavored hummus. You can also add a few tablespoons of water or the liquid from the chick pea can to help in the blending process to make it smoother. I hope this works for you! Homemade hummus is really so much better than the store-bought type :)

Yes, I actually did know it’s Middle Eastern, not Greek, but I was still hoping to find some hummus that tastes better than what I can get in Maine! c:
